The FPA members have voted to fund three projects in the third quarter. Morten Vajhøj will work on topological naming and feature identification in TechDraw . Morten will focus on four deliverables: HLR toponaming, attaching callouts to geometry rather the view location, automatic feature identification, and a dozen new features, such as automatic BOM and balloons in assemblies, and automatic hole/thread callouts. Morten joined the project in early 2026, his contributions are all in/around TechDraw and the Measurement tool. He is one of our GSoC students this year, working on a post-selection rewrite of TechDraw. Morten will be awarded a grant of EUR 2,000 upon the successful completion of the project. João Matos will be improving the visual appeal of rendering in the 3D view . Deliverables are: multi-pass infrastructure, linear HDR rendering and correct color handling, physically based material shading, image-based/environment lighting, real-time ambient occlusion, real-time directional-light shadows, and more. João’s previous work involved modernizing FreeCAD’s and Coin3D’s rendering architecture. He will be awarded a grant of EUR 4,000 once the project is completed. Amritpal Singh will work on KiCad integration for Ondsel Lens . Expected deliverables include 3D board viewing, dual ECAD/MCAD viewers, and STEP export. This work is funded from a separate Ondsel Onwards fund submitted by a private sponsor. Amritpal will be awarded a grant of EUR 3,360 when he completes the project. The total funds allocation is EUR 9,360 against the EUR 10,000 budget.
